Steve Pearce

Steve started playing at the age of fourteen encouraged by his father Ian, a jazz pianist and big band arranger (still doing both - a funky dude). A year on he was doing the yawnsome round of weddings and Bar Mitzvahs playing all styles of music. On discovering 'The Funk' he pledged groovealliegiance almost immediately being heavily influenced by the likes of Parliament, Funkadelic, Herbie Hancock, Philly soul, MILES, Ohio Players and A.W.B. Now, this man needs his own website to cover what he's done since he started sessioning in 1980. Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones, Al Jarreau, Bryan Ferry, Madonna, Mark Knopfler, Toni Braxton, Seal, Randy Crawford and so on. Steve's list of studio credits is truly endless including many movie soundtracks - Donnie Brasco, Evita, The Full Monty and Roseanna's Grave plus a ton of T.V. work.

Bass is my favourite instrument to play but I need somebody who's really accomplished on it to give the music what it needs where it needs and also gives me what I need to hear. Drum 'n' Bass is supposedly a new part of the culture but it's always been the foundation of R'n'B', Soul, Funk, whatever you want to call it and Steve is half of that strong foundation.
